Animal-free fashion is taking off in a big way, as fashion consumers become more aware of the impacts of their consumption on the lives of the people who make their clothes, the impact on the environment, and increasingly the ethical considerations of using animals in clothes, extending their circle of ethical compassion and consumption.
Fortunately this rise in consciousness is coinciding with the development of innovative sustainable and animal-free materials, such as plastic-free vegan leather (reducing the previous reliance on fossil-fuel plastic-based vegan options), non-animal silk with better performance than silk from moths, and materials produced from otherwise waste products diverting them from land-fill or incineration.
